Description

IsotexAIR ventilated block is used for the construction of perimeter walls and facades with integrated ventilation. The classic geometry of Isotex blocks has been redesigned to integrate the exterior ventilated wall into the structure: in one quick and easy installation, you get the extended weakly reinforced wall (cast inside the formwork blocks), the ventilated façade and thermal insulation thanks to the insulation, protected by wood cement, made of EPS made of Neopor® BMBcert by BASF. Special accompanying blocks eliminate thermal and acoustic bridges.

It has a thickness of 44 cm and an insulating insert of 11 cm, with a concrete cast thickness of 15 cm, as per technical standards (NTC2018). Thermal transmittance U=0.19 W/m²K. The block has the exclusive characteristics of the entire Isotex product range. The wood is mineralized with a natural mineral that makes it inert therefore resistant to fire (REI120), pests and weathering. Fire reaction B,s1-d0.

Sustainability certification:

  • Green building ANA/ICEA
  • Environmental Declaration of Type III Products (EPD/FDES)
  • ReMade in Italy certification for Isotex Total Green insulation inserts (100% recycled)
  • ReMade in Italy certification for Isotex Green insulation inserts (15% recycled)

Isotex air block with integrated ventilated wall

Isotex AIR is a wood cement formwork block for the construction of perimeter walls and facades with integrated ventilation. The classic geometry of Isotex blocks has been redesigned to integrate the external ventilated wall into the structure: in one quick and easy installation you get the extended weakly reinforced wall – cast inside the formwork blocks – the ventilated facade, thermal insulation thanks to EPS insulation with graphite protected by the block’s wood cement (“protected coat”). Special accompanying blocks eliminate thermal and acoustic bridges.

Why choose Isotex AIR for ventilated walls?

The Isotex AIR block overcomes the disadvantages of the traditional ventilated wall. All-in-one installation reduces time and costs. Traditional construction of ventilated walls and facades is laborious and complex because it involves the sum of several construction layers laid in succession. It has high costs because it needs skilled labor and the coordination of several workers. Isotex AIR block saves material costsreduces time on site and does not require skilled labor.

Stratigraphy of the Isotex Air ventilated wall

The stratigraphy, starting from the inner side, is carried out with the sole laying of the formwork block:

  1. Coast in concrete wood, which protects the reinforced concrete wall. (structural core of ISOTEX wall) 45 mm thick.
  2. Weakly reinforced concrete wall to be made on site and with mesh structure (piers and sleepers): the cavities of the ISOTEX formwork block accommodate the horizontal and vertical reinforcement laid on site. These cavities are completely filled with the concrete casting with a minimum thickness of 15 cm according to ministerial guidelines and NTC 2018.
  3. Insulating EPS insert with up to 100% recycled graphite. It is obtained by molding: this allows millimeter accuracy of the insert and perfect continuity of thermal insulation. Thicknesses can be varied according to thermal insulation requirements and depending on the concrete wall thickness required for structural design purposes.
  4. Extension of the traditional geometry of the ISOTEX formwork block for fire protection of the insulating insert (protected coat).
  5. Ventilation channels: to allow ventilation through the external cavities provided in the Isotex Ventilated Block, air intake grilles, made of aluminum or plastic, must be placed externally at the bottom and top of the wall. The movable fins of the grilles are opened in the spring to allow air flow from the bottom to the top, promoting cooling of the wall. The grilles are closed in the fall to prevent air flow: the air cushion improves the thermal insulation of the Isotex ventilated wall.
  6. External wall on which to apply plaster or coatings.

Energy efficiency of the Isotex AIR ventilated wall

The innovative shape of the formwork block with a ventilated cavity further enhances the excellent energy performance of the Isotex building system. The Isotex Air formwork block is energy efficient: the continuous and “protected” insulating insert provides thermal insulation, and the ventilation significantly attenuates the surface temperature in the summer period. The calculation report prepared by TEP was carried out in Verona, in the month of July, with average temperature (T) around 23.9°C and assuming an air/sun wall surface temperature of 65°C (corresponding to an average exterior finish color): the summer operation of the facade improves significantly.
